The Moon! One of my favourite subjects to shoot. It was my first "real" shot. A copy was actually hanging in Appleby's for some time. I'm pretty proud of it. Now, I didn't just "snap" my shot, so, fess up. You did at least use a tripod right? :)
Taken at 1/60" at f 7.1 on a tripod, of course, at full zoom. Mya and I had been in town to visit Appleby's, the City Market, Brunswick Square, and a playground in Quispamsis. I had my camera gear in Carolyn's car as that is where the car seat for the kids is. I was bringing the gear inside as company was leaving around 9 Pm.
I looked up and there was the moon hanging there begging to be photographed. Just before I took the picture some interesting clouds were passing by and I was trying to catch them too. Having the shaky hand syndrome I clipped the camera on the tripod and framed the shot. Now what I did see, in addition to the moon, was a tiny round circular object traveling at a very high rate of speed cross the face of the moon to quickly disappear behind the trees. It is possible it was a small airplane but compared to the large jets that were also flying overhead at that time it was smaller than 1/10th the size and was traveling at two to three times the speed. It was also traveling in a direction completely different from what I was accustomed to seeing airplanes fly. It is possible it could have been a very high flying bird lit by the setting sun but it would have had to be flying very high to reflect the setting sun and extremely fast for a bird. It was much too fast for me to track and get a picture of even though I tried. Carolyn and my company also were able to look up and see it moments before it disappeared.
I have always been interested in photography but since 2004 I switched from film to digital and have really concentrated on improving my photography skill. I trust this shows in the quality of images I am taking. I take photos here on my blog for my own enjoyment and share them with you in hope you, the viewer, will enjoy them too.

Hi All:
Further to my reply to Mrs Rule above I now think what I saw streaking through the sky may have been the Space Station.
