The reflection picture was taken at Ritchie Lake the end of November last year. It was a tough shot as I was using an old 300 mm manual fixed lens. I had no metering on my camera so I set the aperature for a reasonable DOF and guessed the correct shutter speed. The place I was standing was icy and my tripod and I kept sliding downhill. I saw this seagull coming in low and was determined to get a picture of him. I pre-focused on a spot in front and tracked him until he got where I thought he should be and snapped the shutter. I am getting too accustomed to zoom and auto focus I guess. I am pleased it turned out as good as it did. I got a 12 X 18 print made and it looks really good. I plan to get it framed sometime soon.
I have always been interested in photography but since 2004 I switched from film to digital and have really concentrated on improving my photography skill. I trust this shows in the quality of images I am taking. I take photos here on my blog for my own enjoyment and share them with you in hope you, the viewer, will enjoy them too.
