Two Animal Pictures

I took this picture of Rocky the Grey Squirrel yesterday. I think he didn't want me taking pictures of his girlfriend even though I feed them all they can eat of the best sunflower seeds money can buy.

I was to the Rothesay Yacht Club today after a visit to my Doctor. There was not much to photograph as all but three boats were safely on shore awaiting winter, This Loon (I think) was fishing and stopped to dry its wings before diving under the water again.

Love the shots. Rocky looks like he's ready to kick some butt.

From my nothern Ontario experience, I don't think that's a loon. The markings look a little off. His head is not black enough and he's missing the white markings. That being said, I don't know what kind of duck it would be. So, I guess we can call it a loon if we want. LOL!!

Hi Mrs. Rule;

Rocky has become quite tame this year. Last year he would bolt if he saw us in the kitchen window. Now he will barely flinch when I open the back door and stand on the deck. His girlfriend was just outside of the frame and I think he was not sure what I was up to with the camera in my hand.

I am not sure what type of bird it is either. I could not get any closer for every time I moved he would dive and go further away. I need that 500 mm lens I guess. Maybe it is a Comorant

Judging by the position of the tail, I'd say he was just getting ready to extricate all those seeds you're feeding him.

Hi there Rita;

He is very expressive with his tail and when he gets excited it is flipping everywhere. I didn't see any signs of extricating activity while I was trying to steady my camera and lens on the handrail. He is a dad and sometimes the youngster is with them but I haven't seen it for a few days.

I was on the wrong side of the light for these two pictures but as you know you take the shot you get because when it is gone it is gone.
