I call these pictures, "Quest for Fish". The single fisherman was at Meenan's Cove and the ice shacks were taken well after sunset at Renforth.

Hay Bales in the snow - or is it?

Rob Martell and I went out late yesterday afternoon to get a few pictures and scout out potential photo locations. We drove around for a while and spotted these hay bales in a field in the Salina New Brunswick area. We stopped and took several images and for me it just wasn't working. When I got home and looked at the images on the computer monitor these two bales stood out. Rob's wife sums it up best when she said it looks like two spoons with shreddies.

February Photos

I have not been taking as many pictures lately as I would like. Here are a few I took so far this month.

Daytime HDR

This is an experiment. I took three handheld images, one normal exposure, the other -1 stop and the third -2 stops. I put these together in Photomatix and converted to black and white then added a slight sepia tone to it. It is not a good image as it is noisy and the program had a hard time lining up the individual images. I should have used my tripod but I was quite a ways from my car and wasn't sure the walk there and back would be worth the effort. HDR does bring out the clouds which was what I was hoping for. Next time I will shoot more images and space the exposure closer. I will also use my tripod.
