A couple of Critters

Here are a couple of animal pictures I took recently. The Canada Geese were at Meenan's Cove and the squirrel was feasting on sunflower seeds on my back deck the other evening. I liked how the setting sun highlighted his tail. Sorry if it is a little soft. I was handholding at full zoom and no image stabilization.

For some reason I can't keep the bird feeders full this time of year.

Waves on RYC Wharf

I took these pictures within minutes of each other this morning at the Rothesay Yacht Club. It would be sunny one minute and the next it would be dark and raining hard. We had heavy wind last evening and the waves were really crashing into the wharf. I understand the last boat to come out of the water was taken ashore yesterday afternoon.

October 23 2006

Mya and I went for a drive today and this is what caught our eye - Pictures #1 to #3.

Picture #4 was taken at Meenan's Cove on October 19th. I call it "Sleeping Geese". I wonder if the males are standing and the females are laying down or is it the other way around?

Cone Flowers

Here is a photo I took at Terry's Lodge in Kingston Peninsula on August 2 2006.It was a bit windy so many of my pictures were a bit soft. This is the best of the lot. I was using a Tamron 90 mm F2.8 Macro lens.

Two Animal Pictures

I took this picture of Rocky the Grey Squirrel yesterday. I think he didn't want me taking pictures of his girlfriend even though I feed them all they can eat of the best sunflower seeds money can buy.

I was to the Rothesay Yacht Club today after a visit to my Doctor. There was not much to photograph as all but three boats were safely on shore awaiting winter, This Loon (I think) was fishing and stopped to dry its wings before diving under the water again.

More Field Trip Pictures

Here are eight more pictures from the Fundy Field Trip on Saturday.

#1 & 2 - Taken as we approached Sussex on the way to Fundy National Park.

#3 - Covered bridge near Sussex N. B.

#4 - A small brook on the Norton Shore Road. This picture was taken at ISO 1600 with no noise reduction done in post processing.

#5 - View of the Old Neck Road and Model Farm Road taken across the Kennebecasis River from the Norton Shore Road.

#6 - Meenan's Cove taken from Douglas Street, Quispamsis.

#7 - Meenan's Cove taken from Douglas Street but this time with a 1 second exposure and the zoom lens moved out during exposure.

#8 - Taken from my front yard as the sun set over Nauwigewauk. Love that orange glow.

Today's Field Trip

Five of us from the KC Camera Club went on a field trip today. We were planning on spending the day in Fundy National Park but just as we arrived in the Park the rain started coming down very hard. Since we were almost in Alma we continued on and had dinner but never took as much as a single picture. We made several stops on the way home and we all took many pictures between Sussex and home, some of the prettiest were on the Kingston Peninsula very close to home. We all got wet but had a good time just the same.

More Fall Colors

Yesterday was windy and very wet. #1 was taken at Meenan's Cove in the rain. It was raining quite hard so I rolled my window down and snapped this picture before I got wet.

Today was overcast and at times gusty. All these pictures, #2 to #7, were taken in my yard a few feet from my back deck. Do you get the idea I like red? They are blended images, occasionally referred to as montages or Orton Images. Check this link for more information:

Queen Mary 2

Here are a few pictures of the Queen Mary 2 when she came into Saint John this past Sunday. The tough part was choosing which pictures to post.

Search for Gargoyles in Saint John

I took a couple of hours today to wander the streets of Saint John looking for Gargoyles. Here are just a handful of the many characters I found hanging over Prince William Street. The street was very busy with vehicles so I was not always in the best position to take pictures. I plan to return on a Sunday to re-shoot. Hopefully the light will be better and the traffic light. (almost a pun there)
